. Q. What ever happened to WordStar, that very popular word processing program from many years ago? A. For those too young to remember it, WordStar. WordStar was a word processor application that had a dominant market share during the early- to mid-1980s. It was published MicroPro International, and written for the CP/M operating system but later ported to MS-DOS. Millard employed Seymour Rubinstein as the director of marketing at IMSAI, and an assembly code programmer, John Robbins Barna, as a systems programmer. Based on this information Rubinstein decided that MicroPro should work on a word processor for the CP/M operating system of the earliest word processing software packages, Electric Pencil, EasyWriter, and WordStar, which was the mid-1980s leader in the CP/M, In the late 1970s and early '80s, WordStar was the world's premier word processing software. Even today, some authors still use DOS word processing software from the 1990s.
